Chapter 1 Offended by an Injured Man

It was a flight from Country Y to City A.

"Ladies and gentlemen, since a passenger in the first-class cabin doesn't feel well, if there's any medical personnel on this flight, please contact us promptly..."

Rosalie Garcia was awakened by the chief purser's sweet voice.

On opening her eyes, she saw the anxiety on an air host's face.

"Ladies and gentlemen..."

As the broadcast continued, the discussion became louder.

Rosalie nerved herself to stand up.

"Well, I'm a medical..."

Before she could finish her words, she was taken by the air host toward the first-class cabin.

Her heart pounded wildly. She was a medical major who had just graduated without much clinical experience.

"This way, please."

The air host opened the door swiftly, showing a scene that stupefied her.

This was more like a crime scene!

In a corner, an attendant, whose hands and feet were tied by neckties, was undoubtedly the "criminal".

A masked bodyguard nearby was monitoring his every move.

"Why is it a woman?! Don't you know Mr. Williams detests..."

A voice came into Rosalie's ears.

But it was soon interrupted by an expressionless man.

"Save him first!"

He said that to Rosalie.

"Okay!"

Only then did she notice the man lying on a chair, with a knife in his shoulder.

Blood had reddened his pure white shirt.

When she rounded the chair and saw his face, she was stunned for a second.

In spite of his pale lips, his delicate facial features and his angular facial contours were mind-blowing.

"Hurry up!"

The anxious man urged her, but she couldn't pull out the knife recklessly.

Quickly, she used all she could reach to stop the bleeding.

Abel Williams, in a coma, felt a more searing pain on his shoulder and furrowed his dashing brows more deeply.

"Do you know how to handle it or not?!"

The garrulous man got impatient as he saw Abel's frown while Rosalie still left the knife untouched.

But Rosalie didn't stop her rescue.

"First, there is no way to test if the knife has injured his internal organs. Without any surgical tools, he'll die faster if the knife is pulled out!"

Nervous as she was, she told him her analysis calmly.

"Second, I'm just a medical graduate without sufficient clinical experience. He'll also die faster if I make mistakes because of your urge!"

"Last, please step back and give me more space!"

The man still wanted to say something, but his cold-faced companion dragged him aside to make room for Rosalie.

In a daze, Abel heard a feminine voice that was polite, confident, and logical.

Trying hard to open his eyes, he saw a comely face with sweat on her forehead. She looked very nervous.

As she approached, he sensed her pleasant sweetness in the smell of blood.

"You're awake?"

On seeing his opened eyes, Rosalie had a glance at her watch on her wrist.

"The plane will land after 15 minutes. I'll try my best to stop the bleeding! Please hold on!"

Her lovely voice came into his ears again.

Faintly, he nodded.

As she stared at his wound tensely, her collar was slightly opened.

There, a jade pendant was swaying vaguely.

When Abel landed his gaze there, he was hit by a trace of astonishment.

Slowly, he raised his hand and grabbed a button on her shirt. With strength, he pulled it and removed the cover on her pendant.

At the same time, her snowy-white skin was frankly exposed.

"What are you doing?!"

Feeling the coolness on her chest, she held her collar together immediately and stared at the man in disbelief. There was a little anger in her voice.

Why did this dying man have the mood to paw a woman?

But he didn't give her any response, because he lost consciousness again.

"It's our duty to save people!"

Rosalie was furious, but she thought of her father's words. Hurriedly, she did up the only button left on her collar and continued with her work.

The cold-faced man winked at the air host, who then covered her body with a blanket instantly.

Feeling the warmth on her back, she had a grateful smile at the air host.

"The bleeding has been almost stemmed. The plane will land after eight minutes. Send him to the hospital at once and he'll be fine."

She looked at the gauze that didn't get wetter anymore, wiped off the sweat on her forehead, and sighed with relief.

Hearing that, all the people in the first-class cabin exchanged a look at each other.

Rosalie slumped on a seat nearby, regardless of the blood all over her. Heavily, she panted.

The tension and stress just now made her feel like vomiting.

The two men rushed up to check Abel's breath. Only after that were they reassured.

"Please keep looking after him until the plane lands."

The cold-faced man was still expressionless when he begged.

"Don't worry. I'll keep an eye on him."

Rosalie didn't refuse his request. After all...

"Dad, this is my first patient."

She whispered in her heart.

The eight minutes appeared like a long year. "Ladies and gentlemen, we have just landed at A City. The plane is taxiing. For your safety..."

The chief purser's sweet voice drew Rosalie's attention back.

She suddenly rose from the seat, which gave John Smith and Gavin Miller a start.

"See you!"

Without a pause, she left hastily.

During the eight minutes, her father's voice and smile flashed across her mind for umpteen times. That disturbed her greatly.

This time, she was back for the news about her father's death.

Perhaps it was just a trick, but once it was real, it would be her last time to see her father!

"Madam, please keep what you saw and heard today a secret!"

John rose and wanted to stop Rosalie, but his wrist was grabbed.

"Don't worry. She will." averred Abel, who had regained consciousness at some point.

Loosening his grip, he gave a cough.

He knew something about the woman of that family.

Chapter 2 Standing Facts on Their Heads

Outside the Garcia's, Rosalie, who had changed into a black dress at the airport, gloomily watched people coming and going with occasional smiles.

They seemed very unconcerned about what happened here.

Dragging her heavy feet, she went into the house amid the surprised stares from others.

The black drapery and white flowers dazzled her eyes.

She was reluctant to believe that, but she had to.

Doctors couldn't cure themselves. Even the most authoritative expert would find it impossible to announce his own death.

"I'm back, dad."

She whispered in her heart.

"Why do you have the nerve to come back?!"

A shriek broke the measly solemnness in the air and hit her eardrums.

Indifferent, she turned around and stared at the ridiculous woman. There was not a trace of expression on her face.

This woman didn't deserve her response.

"My good sister! The last person dad wants to see is you! Are you here to disturb his last peace?"

Another affectedly sweet voice echoed. Obviously, the two were in cahoots.

Rosalie just sneered as she gazed at her father's black and white portrait in front of her.

Dad? Did this shameless woman think she was a member of this family? She was no more than a drag taken here by her mother!

Getting no response from Rosalie, Penny Black and her daughter, Rosy Garcia, exchanged a look at each other before flinging themselves at her.

"Get out of here! Go away! You're not welcomed! Garcia's is not your home!"

Under many curious eyes, Rosalie was pushed by a hand. She stumbled and almost fell.

"What are you doing?!"

She hadn't planned to get into too much of a quarrel with the two.

But clearly, they didn't think the same.

Finally provoking her target, Rosy began weeping.

Her red eyes became even more melting at this moment.

But Rosalie knew it was just a trick that Rosy usually played.

"Rosalie, don't play dumb! Roy... Roy knew all the sordid things that you did abroad! If it hadn't been for you, he wouldn't have got so angry and suddenly... left us!"

Penny also cried hypocritically, scolding Rosalie in front of the guests.

"Sordid things?"

Rosalie sneered. It seemed that she had really belittled this woman before!

"Rosalie, I know it must be your cronies who engaged you in promiscuous relations. But dad couldn't forgive you even when he died. Please go away today. If there's anything, we can talk about it some other time, okay?"

With Penny playing a bad cop, Rosy made herself a good one.

Through the "explanation", she pointed out Rosalie's "Sordid things" frankly.

"You can slander me as you like, but please be honest with me about one thing – how did my father die?!"

Rosalie grabbed Rosy's wrist and stared coldly at her watery eyes.

But Rody didn't give a reply. Instead, she "fainted" in a good weep after a wink at Penny.

In the guests' views, she must have been hurt by Rosalie.

"It's useless to feign fainted in front of me!"

Rosalie tightened her grip on Rosy's wrist, but Rosy had her eyes tightly closed.

"What an ungrateful woman! How dare you bully your sister before your father! Roy! Look at what your good daughter is doing!"

Penny threw herself at the coffin with a louder wail.

"Tell me!"

Rosalie cared about nothing but the cause of her father's death!

When she met him last time, he was so well!

"Rosalie, what are you doing to my sister?!"

Hearing Penny's cry, Reynolds Garcia rushed out from the crowd and pushed Rosalie away. Then, he held his real sister in his arms.

Rosalie, who fell onto the ground, clenched her fists as she watched a group of people escorting Rosy away.

The next second, with sudden strength, she climbed to her feet, strode into the mourning hall, and knelt to her knees with a thud.

"Dad, I'll get to the bottom of your death! I'll punish the evil who caused you to die!"

After saying that, she made a kowtow to the coffin.

When she was ready to burn ghost money, Penny kicked over the brazier.

Sparks flew!

"Stop your nonsense! Rosy is kind-hearted and doesn't want to ruin your reputation! But I'm fearless! When you messed around with a dozen men and women in a room, did you think about your father's feelings? Don't pretend to be a good daughter now! We won't be cheated by you!"

Penny's astonishing words made all the guests gasp.

It seemed the male-female relations were much more complicated than they had thought...

What a surprise that Mr. Garcia, a strict man, had such an open-minded daughter!

"Reynolds! Reynolds! Drive this ungrateful woman out! Don't let her disturb your father's peace!"

Reynolds was just back to the mourning hall. Hearing his mother's words, he walked up and covered Rosalie's mouth directly.

"You..."

Rosalie tried to say something, she could merely hum.

When she was thrown out of the house, she collapsed onto the ground and smiled self-mockingly.

These three had just been outsiders in this family, but now...

It was her who was out of place here.

"Dad, I won't give in!"

Chapter 3 Future Granddaughter-in-law

The moment Rosalie opened the fingerprint lock of her apartment, she sighed with relief involuntarily.

It seemed they hadn't known this place yet.

Tired, she walked in and slumped onto the sofa. Only then did she feel the searing pain on the back of her hand.

It had been scalded by the sparks.

Her two-faced step-mother was as wicked as before!

"Ding dong!"

The doorbell rang when she was ready to fetch the medicine cabinet.

Who was it? Only her father knew she lived here!

Alert, she walked to the door and probed through the peephole only to see an old lady dressed elegantly.

In her memory, she didn't know such a person.

Hesitantly, she swung the door open, while at the same time, she saw a line of blank-faced bodyguards on either side of the old lady.

"Oh, my poor girl! I finally found you!"

On seeing Rosalie, the old lady pounced at her immediately.

That threw Rosalie in a total state of confusion.

"Do you mistake me for someone else? I've never seen you before!"

But the old lady ignored her words and took her hand before walking into the house.

"My poor girl, you're my future granddaughter-in-law. How could you live in such a place? Samuel, buy this entire floor and break the walls. Just let our poor girl live here temporarily before marrying into the Williams's."

As she said, she waved her hand. The chief bodyguard stepped up at once and noted down all the instructions on his phone.

Rosalie felt a twitch in a corner of her mouth.

Wh-what was going on? Shooting a TV series? Or a reality TV show?

"Madam, there must be a misunderstanding! I really don't know you, and I'm not your future granddaughter-in-law."

At that moment, the old lady was telling the bodyguard the furnishing details. Hearing what Rosalie said, she walked fast over and held Rosalie's hands.

Rosalie held her breath and smiled as she bore the pain.

"Do you have a pendant made of high-quality nephrite and engraved with a lotus flower?"

How did this old lady know that?

She had been wearing this pendant; even her step-mother had never seen it.

"Your grandmother is Cheryl Nelson, right?"

Seeing how shocked Rosalie was, the old lady waved her hand again. Soon, Samuel carried a chair for her from somewhere.

"Cheryl is really not a good promise keeper. After we matched you and my grandson, Cheryl went abroad and no longer had contact with me. I've been looking for you and her for so long!"

During these 20 years, Rosalie had never be told about the engagement.

"But..."

She wanted to say something but was interrupted by a sorrowful sigh.

"Alas! Is it because our family is not good enough that you want to refuse us?"

Rosalie was rendered speechless by those innocent eyes.

"Or is it because you don't like me? If so, you can tell me. I'll try my best to become someone you like! Samuel, give my medicine to me. Hurry up!"

During the old lady's self-reflection, her breath became broken and fast. Subconsciously, Rosalie wanted to give her a body check.

"I don't mean that. I just feel that my identity..."

"So you agree? I know Cheryl's granddaughter is a good girl. Let me have a look at your house, tut-tut... What about living with me in the Elegance Community? You may come back after the furnishing here is done."

"..."

Before Rosalie could decline it, the excited old lady suddenly jumped up and threw her medicine box to Samuel behind her.

That was far from being sick!

"Thank you, but I'm fine living here."

Rosalie felt a heavy headache. When she was anxious to find out the cause of her father's death, she was forced to accept a free fiancé!

"Ah, Samuel, why do I feel out of breath again?"

The old lady began her wonderful acting of gasping again.

Samuel, in perfect cooperation, dashed up to lend her an arm and give her medicine.

"Well, perhaps I can have a look at it with you."

The old lady was just like a wilful patient who liked to be coaxed.

With a sigh, Rosalie could only give in.

"Good girl, let's go then. It's stuffy here."

Then, the old lady became energetic again, holding Rosalie's hand and walking toward the door.

"Ah..."

The searing pain put Rosalie in a coma. Before she lost consciousness, she heard the old lady's caring voice.

"Good girl, what's wrong?! Oh, who scalded your hand?! I won't spare the one who bullied my granddaughter-in-law! Why are you still standing here?! Call the ambulance!"

What happened then? Rosalie could neither see nor hear it.
